For young and inexperienced parents, daily care for the baby often raises questions and worries. To reassure you and help you take care of your little one, Oscar offers you information on the basic steps in changing diapers.
Easy as 1-2-3
Prepare everything you need in advance.
Lay the baby on a table or other horizontal surface. Carefully lift the baby's legs with one hand and remove the used diaper with the other.
Every time you change diapers, carefully clean the buttocks and skin folds, as there is a secretion of sweat glands, which can create favorable conditions for the development of bacteria.
Clean the skin in the diaper area with clean water. If necessary, you can use a suitable cosmetic cleaner. If you are not at home, use cleaning wipes.
Take a clean diaper and place it under the baby's buttom. Apply a thin layer of soothing cream to the cleansed baby's skin to avoid itching or other skin irritations.
Let go of the baby's feet and tighten the diaper.
Preventing diaper rush
In addition to carefully cleaning the baby's skin, it is a good idea to expose it to air for as long as possible when changing diapers in order to avoid development of bacteria and fungi. Initially, you can leave the baby without diapers for 2-3 minutes, 3-4 times a day, gradually extending this time. To make the "air baths" even more useful and pleasant, use this time for a massage.
